KIWANIS BED BLITZ!!!!
Once again our Lexington Kiwanis will be hosting a Mini Bed Blitz where we make beds for local families in need of a bed for their 5-18 year old child, who may be sleeping on a couch, sharing a bed or sleeping on a broken bed.
With our simple bed frame, we also provide the mattress, all bed linens, a pillow, blanket, quilt, book, stuffed animal and laundry detergent.
If interested, email Lois at ldaniel@blmcchs.org for a link to our application. The beds will be made and delivered in early May.

Due to the impending weather, all evening activities tonight after 4:30 are being canceled. Student-Athlete's and families, please look for communication from your coaches.

Last week we had a blast participating in our first Heart Healthy week in connection with the American Heart Association. Students in grades PreK-12 and staff members completed various heart healthy challenges each day and enjoyed some assemblies to help spread the message to take care of our hearts and how to respond in the event of a heart-related issue. We also surpassed our fundraising goal of $1500 by raising $2131.67 for the American Heart Association! We are excited to make this an annual event for our students and staff.

We Are Hiring! We are looking for a custodian to join our Lexington family.

February Lunch Menus

Our kindergarteners turned 100 years old! We are celebrating 100 days of the school year today.

Our third graders blasted off to outer space this week! U of I Extension brought an inflatable dome to create a planetarium for the students to enter and learn. They loved seeing science come to life right above their eyes!

Second graders enjoyed bringing Mrs. Strating and Mr. Dawes into the classroom to attempt to complete the steps of a "how-to" piece of writing to make dessert in a cup! Based on this demonstration, students are now recognizing the need for precise language when writing how-to steps.

Families of 8th Graders, please join us on Wednesday, January 29th for Freshman Orientation!
Orientation will start at 6:00pm and take place in the District Library. Meet your child's future teachers, and learn about Lexington High School's courses and activities!

All athletic contests for this evening have been cancelled. Coaches will be reaching out to their teams via their communication platforms regarding practices for this evening.
Stay safe Minutemen!

December Lunch Menus

Good evening Lexington,
If you're interested in purchasing any Lexington High School Volleyball Merchandise, please visit this link.
https://lexington-volleyball-2024.itemorder.com/shop/category/569182/
The store will close on Sunday, December 1st.
Thank you and #LEXGO

Check out our Lost and Found table to see if your student is missing any items (especially sweatshirts and jackets of all sizes including high school students!). This month's Purple Pride trait is responsibility. Responsible Minutemen will claim their items on their own rather than asking our secretaries or teachers to retrieve items for them. :) If you wish to stop by and browse the table, it is conveniently located in the entryway by the elementary office window. We will donate to the Lexington Give and Take in December any items that are not claimed before Thanksgiving break.

We invite you to join us for our annual Veteran's Day ceremony on Monday. If you cannot attend, this will be livestreamed on our Facebook page.

While we are still awaiting furniture and few final touches, we are thrilled to be able to move into our renovated band room and our newly created choir room this week.
Our renovations allowed us to be able to provide our music program with two classrooms with shared practice rooms, improved equipment storage, and updated technology allowing for many new opportunities for our students. Some of our former students might even recognize the brick wall in our band room, which is the original exterior wall of our small gym built in 1942. When we removed the cabinetry, we were excited to find this wall was still in fantastic shape and we decided to incorporate this wall and its history into our design.
By all accounts, our students and staff are already enjoying the new spaces as they gear up for our annual Veterans' Day celebration and upcoming Winter Concerts. We are happy to show off these spaces the next time you stop in for a ballgame or event.

Our staff had a great time this morning with Holly Kelly from the Learning Technology Center of Illinois learning about digital thriving and AI. And the great news is....there's more! Please consider carving out an hour of your time on Wednesday night to listen to Ms. Holly discuss a question that each one of us has to deal in our personal lives or as a parent, "How to Navigate Screen Time?"
We will meet in the District Library, 6:00-7:00 P.M. No Cost. No RSVP needed. Ms. Holly just asks that everyone bring their devices(phones) as she walks you through an interactive and engaging conversation.
