Free books for every K–5 student! 📚 Thanks to a grant from Reading Is Fundamental and help from our Lexington PTO, our K-5 students each selected another free book to keep. This experience took place right before Spring Break and follows the giveaway held during the opening days of this school year. We are excited for this opportunity to keep putting new books into our students' hands!
General art students have been hard at work sewing stuffed monsters for the annual kindergarten/high school art collaboration. Each year during this project, kindergarten students make drawings of monsters then meet with a high school art student to discuss their creation. High schoolers then use their newly acquired basic sewing knowledge to create a stuffed version of the drawing. It is a fun and exciting learning experience that celebrates the uniqueness of a preK-12 school district existing under one roof. This year we have many high school students that participated in this collaboration a decade ago as kindergarten students which is creating a full circle moment for the project.
First grade reading students working with Mrs. Peters were busy unscrambling mixed up sentences and recording their answers as well as using their phonics knowledge to "write" the different ways to spell sounds in the sand. They were busy bees right before break and are back at it again today!

Kindergarten Orientation - April 22nd
The Lexington community once again showed its generosity and support at yesterday’s American Red Cross Blood Drive. Thank you to everyone who came out to donate and help make the event a success.
A special thank you goes to the Lexington Kiwanis and the LHS Key Club for co-hosting the drive, along with all of the volunteers who gave their time to help the day run smoothly. Because of your efforts, 34 units of blood were donated, which will help make a difference for patients in need.
We are especially proud of our Lexington staff and students who stepped up to donate, including several first-time donors who took the big step of giving blood for the very first time. Your willingness to help others truly reflects the caring spirit of our community.
Thank you again to everyone who participated and to the American Red Cross workers who made the entire process run so smoothly. Together, we truly made a difference.

*All extracurricular activities for today have been cancelled. This includes baseball, softball, junior high volleyball, track, and the musical.
*The 8AA IESA regional semifinal volleyball game at Normal Epiphany has been rescheduled. The semifinals will take place tomorrow with finals on Thursday. Game times and location remain the same.
*L.E.A.P. afterschool programming will continue after school this evening. A specific message has been sent to those families with more details.
*Tonight's regular March Board of Education meeting has been moved from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
