Lexington Board of Education Accepting Applications for Board Vacancy
Lexington CUSD #7 is seeking candidates for a Board of Education appointment to fill a vacancy created by the August 6th resignation of Andrea McBurney-Green, who is moving out of the district.
“We are very grateful for Andrea’s dedication to our community and want to thank her for her 10 years of service to our students, staff and residents as a member of the Lexington CUSD #7 Board of Education,” said Board President Jason Thomas.
This appointment will be from September 2025 to April 2027. The Board has 60 days to fill the Board vacancy.
At a minimum, applicants for the School Board position must:
Be a United States Citizen
Be at least 18 years of age
Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment
Be a registered voter
Not be a child sex offender
Not hold another incompatible public office
Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District
Not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment
Qualified candidates may pick up an application form between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the District Office located at 100 E. Wall St, Lexington at Door 1.
A completed application and letter of interest must be turned in by 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025. All materials should be placed in a sealed envelope to attention: School Board President, Jason Thomas
After screening the applications, the Board may invite prospective candidates for interviews during a special meeting of the Board of Education; time and date to be announced. It is anticipated that the selected candidate will be seated at the September 9 Board of Education meeting.
