End of the Year Med Pick Up PDF Print E-mail

All medications for elementary students need to be picked up and signed out at the Nurse's Office by a parent or designated adult before the end of the school year. No medications will be sent home with the elementary students. Parents must sign out all perscription, over the counter meds, and inhalers. Junior High and High School students will be given their meds to take home when they pick up their report cards.

Just a reminder that new medication forms are required at the beginning of the new school year and will be included in your registration packets. No medications will be allowed at school without a signed form from the physician and parent, this includes over the counter meds.

Thanks for your help! Have a great summer!

2012 Monarch Award Announced PDF Print E-mail

The Monarch Award: Illinois' K-3 Readers' Choice Award

Lexington Elementary K-3rd grade students participated in choosing the 2012 Monarch Award winner. Over the past few months Mrs. Leake has been reading and discussing the nominees with students during their library lessons. Last week, the students voted for the book they thought deserved the award. It was a difficult decision since there were so many great titles! Our school winner was Memoirs of a Goldfish by Devin Scillian and Illustrated by Tim Bowers. However, the Illinois State award winner (based on votes from children all over Illinois) was Shark vs. Train by Chris Barton. The name Monarch was chosen because of its familiarity to K-3 children and to symbolize the growth, change and freedom that becoming a reader brings. The Monarch is designed to encourage children to read critically and become familiar with children's books, authors and illustrators. The program is open to all K-3 age children in Illinois.
